Adding pictures of your mini to your profile

In your profile there is a section where you can upload upto 5 pictures of your mini for the world to see anytime they view your profile.

    Steps
    • Access your own profile by clicking the button at the top of the message board.
    • Scroll down to the section labeled "Member Mini Profile (pictured below)

    • Click the "Upload your Mini photos" link
    • This will bring you to the screen pictured below

    • Use this form to search your harddrive for the photo you want to upload.  You can also add a short description if you choose.  When ready, click the "Add Picture" button.  This will upload the photo into the special "Member Minis Album" in the Gallery.
    • Now you should be back at your own profile which will now diplay the photo you just uploaded (see picture below)

    • Continue this process until you have added the photos you want (limit 5).
    • You can delete any photo from your profile by clicking the "delete" link under the photo.

    Hi,

My profile doesn't have a Member Mini Profile section. I just signed up today- does it take a while to show?

    Thanks,

This feature is only available to MOASF Members.  I have adjusted your account to reflect your membership and you should be able to do it now.

    Ed,
Please send Lance or I a personal message or email with your real name and city you live in so we can activate your membership status on the board.

MOASF should be getting my cheque for membership early next week - is it possible to get an advanced membership while this is pending?
I'd also like to post some pics of my newest Mini up on the site!

    Tnx

You are all good to go.
You should also be receiving a newsletter in a day or so, but if you can't wait, you can download it from the "Club Members" section (and catch up with the last year).

I was just changing pics here and noticed that I have a lot of shots that are over 500 kb.

Why are we limited and is there a way to reduce to that amount so the pictures can be posted?

We are limited because I had to put some type of cap or else disk space on the server has the potential to disappear.  Just to put it in real numbers... we currently have 60 MOASF members on the board.  If each one has 5 pictures at 500 KB each it would use up 150 MB.  Now that doesn't sound like much... and it really isn't.  But this web site is not the only one on the server.  And then there is the bandwidth... the bigger the image... the more bandwidth that gets used up each time it gets viewed.  Like disk space, bandwidth has to be balanced as well.  I have to set limits somewhere or else I run out of space and bandwidth.

Now, 500KB is actually quite a lot for a photo being used for online gallerys.  Hi-Res photos are great for getting prints made.  But when we're talking about web site viewing, your monitor is only going to show so much anyway.  A slightly lower resolution image will not view much different.  You can easily reduce the size in any photo editing software... and there are a least a couple that are free.

I hope that is an acceptable answer.  Smiley

That is a very good answer. Thank you, I will try to reduce my larger pics and get them on  in the future.

John, just use Microsoft Paint that comes with every MS operating system.  Works like a charm just for resizing and best of all, you already have it (if you're running Winblows).

here's a tip, since I just added some pics to my profile... you can get XnView, its free and edits/saves in several formats. very user friendly, and does nice slideshows, etc too..
