Do you enjoy geocaching?  Do you enjoy your Mini?  Why not enjoy them together?

I am putting together a little geocaching outing to be scheduled some time during the weekend of Mini Meet West 2005.  If you are into geocaching, then bring your gear with you.  The tentative route that I have planned so far includes about 20 caches in the San Ramon area.  It is about 20 miles and 45 minutes of driving.  Of course there will be some additional time for the hunting.

The caches so far range in size, difficulty, and terrain... but I don't expect to have any that will require serious hiking or mud bogging.

I welcome your thoughts and would like to get a rough idea of how many people would be interested in doing this.

Watch this thread for a GPX file of the waypoints for download and further details.

Also, for anyone interested, the Marriott Hotel is located at: N 37° 45.796 W 121° 57.875

I must note that this little "event" is not meant as a "How-To" on geocaching.  While one need not be an "expert" at it (I'm certainly not), prior knowledge/experience of the sport is suggested.  You will need to supply your own GPSr.

So I shortened the route slightly and dropped a few caches that would not be very convenient for this trip.  We now have a list of 10 caches with a route that is about 16 miles (35 minutes) of driving.  This should give us plenty to do without taking forever.  I was shooting for a two hour trip, so there are a few in the middle that could be skipped if we start lagging.

The plan right now would be to do this on Saturday, meeting in the hotel parking lot near the rallye start/finish area at 2 and leaving shortly after that.  This over laps a little with the rallye so if you were planning on doing both, get an earlier start on the rallye.

Attached is the gpx file with all the waypoints (cache info and logs are up-to-date as of today).  Also the directions  map of the route we will be following.  You can also find the list of caches in this geocaching.com bookmark list if you would like to do anything else with the cache info you can't get from the gpx file (ie. print them).

Can I post a link on the MM site or do you want to?
Do you want a sign for registration with some info on it?

I don't go to MM board much so you can post it if you want.  If I think of something for a sign, I can make one up, thanks.
